Pinochle App Reviews

There are two basic problems with the game. 1. The AI isnt very smart. It makes illogical decisions when bidding and passing cards. 2. The biggest reason for the 1 star rating. I just played 10 straight hands and the computer team got a double run WITH a double pinochle 7 consecutive hands! How is this possible? Fix the "randomness" of the game and it would be fun; otherwise, its just a time killer. It would also be improved dramatically if they would incorporate a multiplayer aspect as well. Maybe something similar to poker where people can join a table as either a single or as a team. In this scenario, you could eliminate cheating by filtering on the IP addresses of the players.

Love it! Sure the ai isnt super genius but they play smarter than most of my friends. And it doesnt cheat like other reviews say. People just get mad when they lose. Ive tested it.

Last 4 hands I played the opposing (computer) team called trump with 1 or 2 cards in a suit but its "partner" had the other cards to make a run. Done with this app.

I just had AQJJ of my partner had the rest he passed my computer partner has no guts worst part of not be able to play with a human on this game. Wish we could play online.

This game is the worst deigned game I have ever played. It is 4 handed which is a partner game in real pinochle but this design has the players partner bidding and playing against himself. Anyone who actually plays pinochle knows partners support play not compete against partners I agree it is horrendous for anyone who actually knows how to play the game! My "partner" just melded 155 points and decided to "shoot the moon" this lost 55 points in meld! The designer knew nothing about a "trump" card game nor the concept of "partner" play

I never write reviews and I love the game of pinochle but Im Frustrated that the computer player is not smart enough to to figure out how to sluff cards and throw counters onto its partners hand when the opponent is out of the suit. Ugh. Sigh.

This game is bad my partner has no concept how to play pinochle he constantly passes with a run ace king queen jack ten he never bids when I give him a melt bid he just dont know how to play whoever programmed the game really is the one who dont know how to play its not just a run its a seven a card run its ridiculous to try to win but youre playing against three people please fix the game I sent you this email a couple of months ago and there still is no change I guess you dont care if people play or not pleasefind somebody who knows how to play to program the game thank you please send me a reply

Sometimes there are 13 trump cards. The review after the game is mis-represented. The game is programmed that way so you WILL buy the better version. Apple should remove the program . Pinochle is a game of counting cards and should be programmed that way.

Can be good but app fails often and is horrible

The latest version, release March 4, freezes sometimes when partner is passing cards. Ive played this for years and have never had this problem before.

The new version locks up!!!! The new version came out in early May 2016....Avoid until fixed! Also tends to try & lock hardware!!! Great game if fixed!

This new update, March, 2016, has totally changed how the computer plays. No fun now. I want the old strategy back!

Program still plays double aces while opposing trump still in play. This is stupid strategy and should be changed. The fact that I have mentioned the need for this fix MANY times, none of your many upgrades have addressed it. Why? Also - see some of my previous suggestions for better play below that have not been implemented. I note that earlier reviews of mine as well as problems reported have been implemented and make a better game. So, I wonder why these have not been implemented. If it is due to technical (programming) issues, I know some people who may be able to assist. Good game. Probably the best and Mist versatile PINOCHLE app available especially for free but there are flaws. Some examples: too many double pinochles are dealt in a given set of games-there are rarely that many when using a real deck of cards; computer plays double aces (or double ace ten) incorrectly, that is while there are too many opposing trump cards still in play; computer forces player to beat lead card (if possible) even if it is not trump-this is not normal and not according to Hoyle; there are other small issues. A nice feature that could be added is to have the computer "know" when it is a "DROP" hand and automatically play all cards. Currently, this only occurs when bidder is the only one holding all remaining trump.

The AI is the dumbest partner one can have. Its like playing with a 6 year old. Never runs trump...ever. Always first gets off all aces anytime it gets in. No matter if all others were played. Heres a tip... If the other team gets in and dumps their aces before you or your partner gets in, 90% of the time that means run trump. You run it til you dont have anymore, then you keep running it!!!! That way your aces dont get cut. Meld bidding is ridiculous... Any decent player knows you dont pass 10, that means you have aces around. 59 bid means double aces around...period. And, the AI shoots me 30+ meld with 1 ace in its hand! Fix this!!!
